Return of the 30–50 Feral Hogs
Let me just start my pointing out that this project is in no way a statement for, against, or otherwise regarding gun control laws or whether Americans should be able to own assault rifles. I don’t own guns, and I’m neutral on the gun control topic. And thats as far as that will be discussed. Now, on to the fun part.
If you were an active Twitter user in the summer of 2019, its safe to assume you remember the ‘30–50 feral hogs in my yard’ meme. If you weren’t, it can be summarized as saying the pictured tweet went viral, spawned about 2049 memes, tweets, rewritten song lyrics, and even a porn parody. No, I haven’t watched it, but I heard about it and fact-checked it. (you can find it on Amazon). Anyway; during the gun control debates a few years back a twitter user raised the question “how else will I deal with the 30–50 feral hogs that charge into my yard as my kids play”. As you can likely imagine, the guy got roasted pretty hard for a couple of weeks on Twitter; but then, something amazing happened.
The American Fish and Wildlife service issued a warning regarding the ‘packs of wild hogs approaching the Montana border from Canada’ saying that if left unchecked these boars (feral hogs) entering suburban America would have “catastrophic consequences”, and just like that the meme was revived, and the original inquirer became an internet hero instead of a whipping boy.
And so, since the NFT space seems determined to tokenize every living species on the planet; it begs the question: “WHERE ARE THE FERAL HOGS??”. So we’re doing something about it.
Mint details are yet to be released, at least in relation to the dates and locations; but around the end of October, 3250 (read 30 to 50) Feral Hog NFTs will be charging into yards on the Ethereum network.
Each of the 3250 Feral Hog NFTs will offer their hodl’ers lifetime (as long as you HODL) membership in the Feral Hog Yard Club, along with all of the IRL and Metaverse/Web 3 benefits involved. First of which will be access to “The Yard”… which I can’t speak too much about since I know full well no one reading this right now is in the club.
Additionally, the Feral Hogs will have a variety of other utilities and benefits; some of which are planned to include staking for tokens which will be spendable for whitelist allocations, raffles, IRL and metaverse events, and more. It’s also quite likely that the Feral Hog Yard Club will find a place within the $DOWN ecosystem.
